As part of our media task, we had to create a short film and make a film review. When creating our film, we started with a basic story board that allowed us to ellaborate on our ideas and ensured that everybody knew what they were doing. We decided to set our film in the nurses office after being given permission to do so. Before we could start making the film we had to ensure we had all the appropriate props required for making the film, these included: a doctors jacket, glasses, a pregnancy test and toilet brush to appeal to the comedy genre that we targetted, we also help to create this effect by making our film silent and using subtitles that allowed the audience to follow the story with ease. We also, created a moving story board that made it easier to follow.
The film is based around two people that have to take a test, in our case a pregnancy test and is therefore situated in the nurses office.
The film starts with an etablishing shot of the nurses office, and then there is a midshot of a girl who thinks she is pregnant and the doctor, this helps to etablish the both the characters and their reaction towards eachother. However, the is also a shot of a man having a epileptic fit on the bed, this portrays a rather chaotic and less than professional surgery. As the doctors sends the girl to the toilet the camera pans to follow her. Then straight away there is a midshot of another girl who thinks she is preganant, which also portrays chaos.
However, as the doctor realises that there is already someone in the toilet he tells her to stop. It is here where we added a black screens that reads " Gloves up, ready for examination" which once again portrays the aspect of comedy. The there is a midshot of the doctor throwing the womans pregnancy test and dragging her behind the screen, once again showing that the doctor is less than professional. During editing we slowed this down to add emphasis to what is really going.
After that the pair go behind the screen and clothes begin to appear above the screen, during editing we also sped this up to make it seem a little more hectic.
After, this there is then a close up of the doctors trousers that are now round his ankles and therefore appeals to the comedy aspect once again.
Amidst all this chaos The girl who had taken the pregnancy appears looking shocked and confused as she learnt that she is pregnant there is also a close up of her face to show this, and the doctor appears looking a bit suspicious.
